Overstory Overture, composed by MIT Media Lab innovator Tod Machover, is inspired by Richard Powers’ acclaimed novel The Overstory, translating the book’s exploration of the profound connections between humans and the natural world into music.
Beyond a conventional performance, the work combines electronic soundscapes with intricate orchestration, bringing the forest’s ecological narrative vividly to life. Sejong Soloists' performance demonstrated new possibilities for 21st-century music at the intersection of technology and artistry, immersing the audience in ecological wonder and thoughtful reflection.
